collections on sony changing

I just downloaded 0.7.12 of calibre to use with my Sony PRS-900. Have been following the discussions to learn as much as I can. Here's my problem. I have my collections set how I want them. When I connect my reader to my pc calibre redoes my collections based on meta data I am not using. Example, I have some books with multiple authors. I want them only under one authors name. I changed the author's name in the edit metadata tab so that I only have the main author listed. The next time I hooked up my reader calibre put back the multi-author listing as a new collection. I have to go in and change my preferences to manual management in order to delete the multi-author collection title. Once I set my collections the way I want them how do I make sure calibre doesn't change them?

Just went to another thread and found something which I think answers my question. I will check when I get home and let everyone know.
