Oh, progress! Hoorah. Hopefully this will follow for Android. Last year when their video streaming was still Flash-based I was able to watch my subscription movies on my CM9 Touchpad, but they switched the format and stopped all that.

Their current app in the UK (Lovefilm) only allows you to manage your account, and it does that about ten times more slowly than simply using the website in a browser window. <sigh>

Would be nice; and so would an iPhone/ iPod touch app.

I hope so too. Kinda lame that Apple gets it first again. Oh well, SOMEONE has to test it out first.

Seems strange that the iThing app gets released first when they already have an Android version for the Fire, you'd think getting the Android version out for other devices wouldn't overly difficult (since folks at XDA have it working on various devices). Anyway, it's nice to see some progress on them getting any apps for this out at all.

I wonder if this being iPad-only lends any credence to the Amazon phone rumors? History has shown a desire to give their hardware temporary exclusivity to one service or another.

You may recall shaky start Netflix had on Android. Devices had to be individually approved for "content security" reasons. Perhaps there are similar concerns here, only Amazon could be working with the manufacturers to have all the major devices approved prior to launch.

Either that or Amazon just wants to keep the Android version exclusive to their devices.
