Any word on battery replacements?
I'm considering buying a PRS-300 in the near future, but I'm put off by the whole battery thing.
I know the 500/505 has a OEM available (and I have no issues with cracking a case), but I've seen nothing mentioned for the Pocket Edition. The Li-Ion is supposed to have a 2 year average lifespan. To me that kind of sucks. I still use a 10 year old mp3 player, I expect more from my electronics. Has anyone opened one of these and know what battery it uses? Heck, I'd just love to see pics of the inside. |

this is mostly anecdotal but I believe that's the same composition battery I have in a palm tungsten. I bought the palm ~6 years ago, charged it almost daily for the first 3-4 years and now about weekly because I use it much less. I think originally it ran for ~3 continuous hours on a charge and over the years that's dropped to ~1 hour.
the screen is completely unresponsive in places, I've lost/broken 5 stylii, the on/off button hasn't worked for 3 years and I'm on my second case. but the battery is still chugging away and suspect I'll be tossing the pda before it stops taking a charge |

As for the 505's battery, it may take a while until an OEM battery becomes available for the 300. But I think there should be something on the market by the time you need one.
I have used my 505 quite extensively, and after more than a year it's still running around the same charging cycle as when I bought it. On the other side, I've upgraded to the 600. I know that there are people who use a unit until it breaks down, but I'm more the "I want a new toy" sort of guy (as far as I can afford). |

From what many posters have said (that have disassembled the 300) say it is user changeable not problem. No soldered wires.. Just a screw. For the price (especially now) They are a steal! I can say its the same experience as the PRS-900, but it is small and has its qualities for ell under $200. I like the cover that has the light built in. Too cool!
