Anyone know what's happened to the supposed arrangement for Tor to sell eBooks through Baen? We seem to keep hearing that it's on the verge of happening, but it never seems to actually do so!

My understanding is, it's going to happen -- but the lawyers have to finalize the contractual arrangements first, and that's taking much longer than expected. (The lawyers presumably work for Tor's parent umbrella company, and they started by offering standard publishing boilerplate terms which don't really work for ebooks -- little stuff like T's and C's for returning stripped mass-market book covers were left intact ... which is taking time to fix.)

NB: it's not Baen, as such, that Tor will be selling through, but Webscription.net, which is a separate company (although AIUI it was set up and bankrolled by Baen).

I'm pretty sure the Lightspeed social networking/fiction site is going ahead in the very near future; at any rate, I've sold them a novelette, which tends to suggest that a fiction market exists, and last week I got to see the preliminary artwork to go with it, on a certain Tor editor's laptop ...
