Poetry & Kobo

Hi All,

I've downloaded several public domain poetry anthologies, a few with high "reader ratings", but on screen - on my Kobo Touch and on my computer - the formatting presents the poems as a single block of text, not as a poem.

Does anyone know of a way of solving this because, really, there is no point producing such ebooks, as they are useless as books of poetry.

Further, why would anyone give them a positive rating?????

On that matter, can someone help me with how I can actually give a rating to a book?

Thanks everyone/anyone.

Mark.

It is probably a formatting issue in the book. Can you post an example so we can see? Either attach the book or post the url where it can be obtained.

I seem to remember coming across a fascinating blog on formatting of poetry for eBooks. If and when I can refind it, I will post a link.

Thanks for replying David and Peter.

The lack of formatting for poetry seems only to be on free downloads. I've bought a few books now and they all reproduce the poems pretty well.

I sent a request for help to the Help folk, including the title of a faulty text. They replied quickly once, saying they'd get onto it ASAP, but I've heard nothing since. Disappointing.

I know "you get what you pay for" and I can;t whinge about free stuff, but surely if it's going to be offered, it should actually function correctly. And further, I really can't understand how anyone could give a positive review to such rubbish.

Anyway, enough whinging. I'm off to read my Kobo.

If you can post a link to the text here, as David suggested, you might get a quicker answer. It's probably something simple and correctable like a faulty conversion from HTML.
