Catalogue

For those who are way way way more savvy about programming than I....

Is it possible to create a catalogue of all books stored on one's Cybook.
By whatever sorting order you define,
Genre,
Author,
Book Title etc....

Download this to the Cybook, placing it on the front page.

Each entry in the catalogue; tags/hyperlinks/(I don't know), to the book you want to read???????

A similar thing 'works' with the dictionary lookup, also internally with tags to notes etc....

(call me simple if you like!!! - just a crazy brainstorm/or was it a snowstorm...)

Unfortunately, although the MobiPocket format supports "hyperlinks" within a book which take you to another books, the Gen3 doesn't currently implement this feature; it only supports hyperlinks which jump within the current book.

2You can create a catalogue file using mobils which is part of MobiPerl. Currently the format is just in one format but it could be extended:

Code:
invid:~/mysvn/ebook/mobilread> mobils -R

Chesterton, G.K.: Father Brown Omnibus (./Father Brown Omnibus.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Haggard_Anthology_Vol_1.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Chesterton_Man Thursday.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Sherlock Holmes Omnibus.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Cabell_Jurgen.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Raffles Omnibus.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Puddnhead Extraordinary Twins.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Putnam_Nonsenseorship.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Blue Hand.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./The Council of Justice.prc)
CIA: CIA World Factbook 2005 (./CIA_World_Factbook_2005.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Haggard Anthology Vol 2.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Sayers_Whose Body.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./Lady Molly of Scotland Yard.prc)
NOAUTHOR: NOTITLE (./The Old Man in the Corner.prc)
Bierce, Ambrose: An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge (./Bierce, Ambrose_An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge.prc)

There are a variety of ways in which one could create a catalogue of books; unfortunately I don't know of any way of creating a catalogue which would provide direct linking to the books - do you?

Well, you could make one book of all your books. It would probably work OK.

That was the gist of my suggestion...although I got no further than an idea using a WORD doc...

I have tried this approach, at least having all the works of one author in the same file.

The drawback in this approach is that is more of an hassle to navigate when reading more than one book in the file (have to use bookmarks to remember positions) and that the pagometer really shows its limitations.
