Macintosh Comic Reader and PDF creator now available :)

Hi,

I have just uploaded my Macintosh ImageBrowser program to my
website :

http://homepage.mac.com/levanj/Cocoa.

This is a new version ( after a 3 year layoff ). The major new feature of
the program is the support of cbr and cbz ( aka comic book format) formats.

The major point of interest for ebook readers is the ability of the program
to generate PDF versions of the 'graphic novels' .

I found that comics looked a bit dark on the Iliad so as part of the
pdf creation process a lightening filter is applied along with a
jpg compression filter.

The user also has the ability to modify the compression and suppress
the lightening effect if so desired.

On a non Leopard mac the generation of the PDF is a bit slow so
be patient.

Please read the README and feedback would be appreciated, I have
not had time to do a lot of testing...

Enjoy,

Jerry

Hey Jerry! Kickass, thanks for the program! I was looking for some way to convert .cbr-compressed comics to pdf. Would it be possible to add some batch-functionality so that one coud simply drag'n'drop multiple .cbr files into the Imagebrowser and it would be possible to process all of them for pdf-conversion?

Hi Rocco,
I think it might be a bit tricky to add that functionality to the program,
but I don't think that it would be (terribly) difficult to write a "batch"
program that would do as you would like...

Let me think about the problem for a while

I am wondering what you would want to do with this feature? Make a Manga style book with lots of separate stories perhaps? If so you would need a TOC for it. In addition a comic book is already large. You want to put several together in one file? Are you trying to choke a super computer?
