The Guardian columnist welcomes the Reader

Here is a reporter from a mainstream news who totally gets it right: While the e-book would never pass a techno-hubristic review that immediately looked for what it cannot rather than what it can do, it does what it claims very well.

Click here for the full hands-on review.

Its a pity he didn't try the screen in bright sunlight... He would've found it works very well...! But what with their online edition of G24 the Guardian is one of the few newspapers that tends to understand the upsides of technology...!

Harrumph. I'm just not accustomed to finding myself in agreement with The Guardian.

In his defense, jęd, they're not exactly known for great quantities of sunlight over there in England -- especially in January and February.

Every time I have been to London I have yet to see the sun there. I think that sunny days in London are an urban legend.

Yes, it is good to see more and more reviewers "get it." To understand that it does what it is designed to do, not what it doesn't do. (My laptop for example still can't make a good cup of coffee.)

Hey, it was very nearly sunny yesterday. There was definitely a moment there when I could see a bit of sky. Sure it's cloudy right now and likely to rain later but that's not the point.

Still a good review, fair and honest.

If it has a Sony battery, you can heat your cup with it!

It was quite sunny earlier, and while its a bit cloudy there's some sunny patches. Pity about the chance of rain later...

It does; however, it is an older model (Sony Z505 - 450 MHz, all I need for the light use it gets) so the battery does not get that warm.

No cup holder, no cup warmer, makes a lousy cup of coffee -- such a product will never go anywhere in today's marketplace! What was Sony thinking, releasing such a completely inadequate product?

After reading everything and thoroughly fun:
Looked at the photos of the author's review, thought that the old dog can not learn any new tricks, but at his age, as it may look, very cool that he tries new things. Curiously, he says, for example, six months or a year later.
