PRS700 is not recognized by e-library
I continue to have problems getting the Sony ebook library to recognize my PRS700 so that I can transfer books. I have to unconnect my USB cable several times before ebook library will recognize it then after a short period of time the connection is lost. I can view the device under "my computer".
Any suggestions. |

Make sure you are using the Sony OEM USBcable. I've had zero issues with the library.
Disable your firewall? or make sure your rules include appropriate settings. failing at that: Sony Support |

try reinstalling the device driver.
right click my computer, properties, Hardware tab, device manager, ang look for it un Unicersal serial bus controllers, delete it restart your computer plug in the 700, and let it reinstall the drivers |

If the firewall is actually running, you can define rules to allow certain programs or certain web sites and certain ports to have full in/out data flow. But since you say your firewall is turned off (I hope it's on when you go online!) it isn't an issue.

Some firewalls allow TCP rules (both in and outbound) and as such you may have inadvertently blocked the traffic flow to the sony app. You may also be running services that you are not aware of that could also interfere. Since the majority of all 7 users are not experiencing what you are, I'd say its a system issue on your side. Restart your PC and hold the CTRL key down to bypass startup group then open up WTM and kill off any firewall / anti this or that... Then plug your sony in and fire up the library app. I admit, sonys' e-library is not the best piece of software but then again what OEM app is? If this fails then try another system before you declare DOA and swap the unit out. hope this helps. |
