Nice point -

I guess I should be using either "reject" or "reset" rather than 'drop' in the BBB filter.
That way the user doing the above will get an appropriate message rather than having to sit around and wait for the access attempt to time-out.

I can feel an 13041 version coming on already.

EDIT: put a blank file called WIFI_NO_NET_PROBE on your /mnt/us

and reboot.

Honestly. I don't understand what you think this is going to do???

The connectivity page returns a tiny bit of (json?) something to confirm you are online NOTHING MORE. if it is not found your wifi connection DROPS, nothing to do with login pages or anything.

WIFI_NO_NET_PROBE removes this check.

Seriously I think you are trying to fix a problem with the wrong tool.

I have a wifi hotspot,any other device can conect to it normally
but kindle can't
After connect and input password it always said __sign-in required__
I'm using kindle 4 Black

Someone said that it is because of my ISP
Other ISP can visit that __Kindle Reachability Probe page.__
and in other isp's hotspot i can connect to kindle

approache 1: let ISP to provide connection to __Kindle Reachability Probe page.__

But i find that i can directly visit that page using ip

You **are** doing it on your own! Use the IP address.

You can not modify the **Kindle's** /etc/hosts file, even as root, because that file system is mounted read-only.

Did you notice this motd text when you accessed the Kindle?

Honestly. Just check your wifi hotspot settings. Sounds to me more like. the Auth Type is wrong or something?

Or anything other than what you have said.

Look at the router settings. Everything you described so far would say that WIFI_NO_NET_PROBE on the /mnt/us would stop the DROPPING of connections. (This appears to work okay in my honest opinion.)

Hmmm...... OH WAIT... Err...

BT homehubs MIGHT have a similar deal. where it you connect to the PUBLIC side of your wifi via a device you have to enter your username and password for THE BT NETWORK as opposed to your local one.. My router has two such profiles.

Honestly. I don't think your answer lies in the connectivity page. Of course I could be wrong. but this sounds more like "something else". "What" I am not 100% sure of.
