I can think of a few things I wouldn't read, but they're all in the "disgusting" category—tales of pedophilia, incest, racist books; that kind of garbage. Other than that, I'm pretty much like anyone else who works in the oldest profession in the world. I'll read anything if the pay is right.

Too big, not that interesting material until very end. I'll wait for movie. Facebook and moneyball movies were entertaining. Compressed this could be too. |

Horror fiction, teen fiction, ghost/vampire fiction, erotic fiction that has no plot, Anything recommended by Oprah or that contains references to Oprah because the author wanted to get on Oprah to plug their book.

although I read mystery detective books where the perpetrator of the above acts is tracked down and arrested or killed etc. but books that glorify or appear (my opinion only) to appeal to pedophiles, rapists, sadists, or abusers in general, just too gross for me. Helen |

I wish I had the patience to read math books, but, well, I don't. Anything described with the word paranormal might also be a problem. Quote:
Now, if the book was written by a politician from my own country, that would be a much harder sell. |

I'm not going to double-check this. Just too disgusting. I've heard this series described as a science fiction classic, but I can find more enjoyable things for me to read. Last edited by LovesMacs; 09-06-2012 at 09:47 AM. Reason: Forgot to add this |

Ulysses by James Joyce, Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon. I mean, I guess if you offered me enough money, I would read all the words in the order in which they are written, but if I had to say what the book meant or even what happened in order to get the money, I probably would not get paid.

I have actually quit my book-club because I hated being forced to read something I didn't like that much. I don't mind reading what somebody else suggested, but I won't finish it when I don't like it. I don't think money will change this.

How about books one wishes one could pay to unread? For me that would be Mike Resnick's _The Branch_.
