I'm kind of confused. What's the order?
1. Wool Omnibus (1-5) 2. First Shift: Legacy 3. Second Shift: Order After finishing the omnibus I start with First Shift then Second. Is that right? |

That's the publication order, but First Shift is a prequel, so chronological order would go like this, wouldn't it?
1. First Shift: Legacy 2. Second Shift: Order 3. Wool Omnibus (1-5) |

Read it in published order. There's suspense and intrigue contained in the Wool Omnibus stories that would be utterly spoiled (and rendered quite pointless, in fact) by reading the prequels first.

Yeah absolutely. It would mess up the whole story of Wool if you knew the backstory ahead of time. Read all the Wool books first.

That aside, I do rank it as one of the best books I've read this year. |

I agree completely. Wool was the only book that I voted for in the previous rounds that made it into the final round in any category. I'll chalk it up to others not discovering all of the best books yet

Add me to the list of Wool admirers! I just finished the omnibus this morning and I loved it! The ending of Wool 1 was such a surprising twist it made me want to keep reading more. And the writing was really, really good. I can't wait to read the other two books in this series....and hopefully this author will keep writing sci-fi for a long time to come.
eta-Also, I'm a knitter, so I enjoyed the knitting references. However, I had to wonder why the mayor didn't just make a gauge swatch (and then unravel it so as not to be wasteful) in the beginning of wool 2 instead of worrying about choosing the right needle. If you make a swatch, you'll know you chose correctly. Last edited by jessicalynn; 11-25-2012 at 10:41 PM. |

Did anyone get Second Shift from Kobo? The formatting was a mess - my Sony wouldn't even open it. It downloaded as a zip file and I renamed it to epub which usually works. In Calibre it showed as having no cover even though the jpg was there. I fixed it in Calibre, but I shouldn't need to and Kobo cusomer service is so bad I'm not even going to contact them. I got the omnibus from Kobo and it was ok.
Great story so far! I first got the omnibus free from Amazon with my Prime membership and liked it so much I bought it. I am (im)patiently waiting for Third shift. |
