While it is indeed possible for Amazon to screw up and/or make mistakes with accounts, I highly suspect she did something really bad to get this kind of treatment.

Maybe the reason it keeps coming up is because it's an issue. The company - any company - is not your friend, and the cloud alone is not a long-term storage solution.

Turn about is fair play, but companies do indeed make mistakes. It's not just possible, it's a certainty.

Whether this is one of them, who knows. What I do know is it's easy to blame the victim and to believe those things don't happen to you, only to someone else.

If we were given the full story then we could better judge her and/or Amazon. But almost all of these types of stories turn out to be real account fraud or abuse.

And people leave out important details that cast them in a bad light, also a certainty.

The analogy of a forum account is completely off the mark. The customer is cut off from access to purchased material. She's foolish not to have it backed up elsewhere, but it's not as if she simply can no longer post in a forum. This is more serious.

I don't kid myself that Sony or any other company is different; there are always anecdotal reports like these for practically any organization, public or private, regardless of size.

Possibly someone has her email and is using it fraudulently. But if she violated terms, Amazon should tell her the reasons - at least in general.

That would be the behavior of a reputable company.

She bought books from amazon.uk when she lives in Norway. People in Norway are not allowed to use amazon.uk they use amazon.eu or what ever the amazon europe site is.

No, it's like saying that the issue of your guilt never got to court. The bank's security guard knocked you down, took all the money in your wallet, and banned you from the bank for life.

You got that one wrong too.

As she wrote in one of her emails.

The forum analogy was only mentioned as a very basic example of how it's possible to link different accounts even when people re-register, nothing else.

Edited to add: Mind you, I agree it's a bit rubbish that they you might lose stuff from your archive, but as Blossom posted, things like this seem to come up quite regularly, and a) yes they will delete the account but why would that remove everything from your Kindle, and b) there's usually a bit more to it all than the person claiming cares to admit.

FWIW, having helped run a messageboard at one time, I was amazed at the amount of people who were abusive, banned and re-registered only to be abusive again, yet continually maintain their innocence even though we could see the evidence as plain as day in the forum's settings. Like we had some agenda to ban them just for the fun of it. That was a free website. Considering Amazon are in the business of making money from their customers, it's beyond bizarre to immediately jump to the conclusion that Amazon have banned a customer for no reason?!

For me the scary part is not that they banned her, it's that they refuse to disclose the reason and what evidence they have.

How can anyone defend themselves, when they dont know what they have supposedly done wrong.
