I does indeed sound interesting. I have just ordered the audiobook, as I'm going to be doing a lot of driving over the next couple of months, and this sounds like a diverting listen. Thanks for the pointer .

This not going to be a good month. We have 1 real choice for round 2. In looking for a good copy of Ivenhoe, I found out that it never should have been nominated as it' book 10 in a series.

Darn Jon. I didn't realize you had such dry humor. I *almost* believed you were serious..

And I thought it was Jon's special way to push Ivanhoe to the top.

I wasn't anticipating Ivanhoe getting there to be honest. But I may even vote for it in the run-off vote. Cool.

I had already planned to read The War of the Worlds next year anyway, so I'm not bothered that I'm falling back to that original plan.

The only series info I could find was that it was made into a mini-series for tv. Is it actually part of a series of books? If so which, please?

Some of Scott's books are sometimes known as the "Waverley Series" or "Waverley Novels" (named so from the title of his first book) because his novels from that time period explored similar themes and no one knew the author (until 1827). Not a series in the sense one usually refers to a series.

Back when they were first published Scott didn't use his name and the books said at the beginning they were ‘by the author of Waverley’ so they collectively became the Waverley Novels.

Yeah.. I keep hoping that was his sense of humor and not serious comment, because ... Sheesh...

Normally it would have been up already, but based on his post in the "Light Candle" thread, I'm guessing Tom has had some family business to attend to.

The Runoff Vote thread for June 2012 has now been posted. Vote early, and vote often.

Okay, just kidding about that last part.
