New Issues with Book Designer

After getting everything to finally install right on Windows 7 I have been using BD fine for the last several weeks.

I launched the program today and it didnt work so I launched again and now I am having numerous issues that I have no idea why they came up.

Whenever I try to open a .lit file to convert I get the following screen.



Whenever I go to open just a plain .txt file, it opens in BD but there are a bunch of random characters everywhere. I have included an image and highlighted the characters in question.



I have verified that the original files are fine (ie. the .lit opens fine in a .lit viewer and the txt file is clean.). I have also attempted different .lit and .txt files with the same results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
