How do I know which version i62 I do have?
I've just bought an i62, a show model. On it is the firmware version 1.7.20120717, but I see that version 1.8 is available as well.
There quite some different i62's around, HD, Pearl, 800x600, and so on. How do I figure out which version I've got? On the box it says Boox i62 HD with infrared touch, gray version, HD, 238 gram. But I'm not sure if the box even belongs to the one inside. On the back of the e-reader: Model i62 DC 5V-1A www.onyx-international.com. When I look in about, it doesn't state which version it is at all, only in the adobe info it says "Boox I62 PVI HD contains...." The manual sis version 1.7 for the i62. When going to the specs sections it states: 800x600, 16 gray scale 246 gram. The actual weight is 248 grams I've got no clue which version I've got, but I'm thinking it's not the i62 with HD, but how to be sure, so I know which update is right? Or perhaps I've got the latest update for this version already? Next question is where to get the update...... many places offering updates, but where should I go? The first place for the updates is Onyx Boox i62HD. Software updates.

Hello, there are only 2 6" versions right now:
i62 HD i62 HD firefly and the two firmwares are not compatibles. If you want to check that the screen resolution is really HD you should look there: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=23 and open the image in full screen. cheers |

Thanks for the link! Tried both of them and the 1024x768 one fills the whole screen on 100%, while the 800x600 one has a white border around it. so, I've definitely have the HD version as stated on silver sticker on the box. Now I should be able to get the i62 HD update.

Just thought of something else..... when upgrading from 1.7 to 1.8, can you still switch the pfd beta off if you want prefer to use the standard one? In 1.7, I do find searching for words in the beta pdf reader very slow, while the standard reader is fast.

If I remember well, there is still an option like "use old pdfreader" but I may wrong.
However you can always install a previous version of the firmware if you like sweeties |

Thanks, good to know! By the way, does it matter which firmware I choose, the one in the links at the top of this forum section or by following the link on the reader / manual (www.onyx-international.com). Are they different or just the same?

No, they're different.
The one from onyx-international, is provided by the chines manufacturer, and so is mainly optimized for their country. The one from onyx-europe is linked with artateck.pl, so if you have bought your reader from their site you should install their updates. (and is compatible only with their ereaders) At last, the updates you find in this site are provided by ereader-store.de Basically, artateck and ereader-store buy the reader from the chinese manufacturer, and add some europeans features. So if you want to study chinese you might prefer the onyx-int updates. smile |

I'm not sure where it was bought, I got it from someone else, but that person has no clue at all. It was hardly ever used, it's in brand new condition, but no papers at all. It must be from Europe since the Dutch language is installed.
I've tried the 1.8 update, from here but it doesn't update when I try. It says no update found. |

You can try to use the update by artatech.pl, which has slightly different features
somewhere in this forum there is a guide to install the update you like, but I don't know how much is it legal |
