Now if only the Kobo Touch wasn't still getting firmware updates which seem to cause as many issues as they fix, I'd find this much more exciting.
Still, good news, and nice to see additions to the range instead of just a straight replacement. If I hadn't just bought myself a Sony PRS350, that Kobo Mini would have been soooo tempting! |

According to the press release at the bottom of the endgadget article, October 1st for the two e-readers, "this November" for the tablet.

Unfortunately, Googling the exact phrase "XGA Pearl screen" yields that one page of specs and nothing else. |

Finally a high-rez screen on a reader with competent industrial design. Hope they release a non-glow version for somewhat less.
Also nice to see them going all the way and removing the redundant home button. I find Kobo's clean and simple design language very appealing and have never missed physical buttons. |

I now predict that the new Kindle e-ink reader coming out today will have a 1028x764 screen.

I'm betting that the faster processor in the Glo will take care of most of that. One of the bigger deals was how slow pages were "born" in Japanese.

I suddenly am finding myself far less interested in Kindle's announcement tomorrow! Will be hanging out for hands-on reviews.

I think the key hardware differientator will be the lighting tech since that seems to be proprietary too all the device makers. Nooks clearly sacrifices a lot of contrast.

Is the kobo the one that tells you how many hours you've spent on a book? That's one feature I want!
Too bad it looks like there are no page turn buttons. |

what's KOBO marketshare in the USA?
It needs a lot of catching up to do since it's not Amazon and it doesn't have a retail presence like Barnes and Noble. |

Re: kobo in the US, you'd think the opportunity would be there to partner with 'unaligned' retailers like Walmart, bestbuy, etc more aggressively.
