Twat (either definition), idiot, moron, a**hole, troll, whacko, etc.

There is a very long list of epithets that can be used that are really not a good idea when typing, rather than speaking. Especially in MobileRead, where we are all trying to maintain a friendly environment. Please do not use them. If someone is offensive, please do not use them. If an idea is offensive, please do not use them. Please do not use words to describe another if you would not use them to describe your mother. Unless your mother is one of them, then please don't use them anyway.

I think you catch the drift. There would be a lot less rancor and problems if these words would be taken out of conversation, rather than out of context.

I agree 100%.

Also, please remember that if you think someone is behaving like a -fill in with eptithet of choice, but only in your mind - there is a 99.9999999% chance that they don't feel that way. They either feel very strongly about what they are discussing, or they are reacting to a previous post that hurt them. Either way, if you hurt them because they have hurt you, we end up with two people feeling hurt and aggravated, and feeling that the other guy started it.

Just remember this: it's always the other guy that started it. Always.

So let's say that you (this is a general you, not aiming at anyone specifically here) feel hurt or angered by a post. You reply in anger and hurt the other guy, who will then (supposing he wasn't hurt before) feel hurt and angered himself and perfectly justified to hurt you in return. Which will make you even more angry, to which you will react by... get the idea? This is how most wars get started, big or small.

Feel free to replace the masculine pronouns by any of your choice, of course

So, rather than replying in anger to a post, may I suggest you (we, any of us, including myself) wait until tomorrow and read it again, before replying to it...?
