Currently the results summary never contains information for unselected books. Perhaps it would be better if it indicated that they were found, but ignored. I will consider this for a future plugin release.

I did not realize this was the case, because I usually search all my books to update links.

I am able to replicate the problem. I found that there is a mistake (unterminated CDATA sections) in the web page for that book on OverDrive which is preventing the plugin from parsing it properly. The next release of the plugin will detect this error and allow links for that book (and any others with the same problem) to be found.

Hope that this is not an intrusion. Another member suggested I should look here.

I have a Fire 1 with Overdrive. Have used this for Library loans with no problems. Recently I've downloaded some ebooks using the Fire from the site Tuebl. The books can be read with Overdrive..

Now I've loaded Calibre on my laptop. And hence the problem. Calibrer does not see the books on the Fire when the Fire is connected to the laptop. There are no Library books on the Fire only the ones from Tuebl.

Any comments on why this is and how it may be corrected wilol be apreckiated.

I am not familiar with the Overdrive app on the Fire or with Tuebl so I am I unable to help with this question. The Overdrive Link plugin is used to find e-books and audiobooks of interest at various lending library sites. It has nothing to do with the actual reading of e-books.

ETA: If this is a question about loading library books into calibre I will not provide any assistance with that.

Where are the books stored?

I would guess in obfuscated appdata storage... in which case no wonder calibre cannot see it.

And ebooks you manually downloaded and simply opened with the OverDrive app, will still be in your downloads folder (and the OverDrive app might make copies for itself, or just access that file), which is why calibre can see it.

Thanks for the heads up!

The only EPUB formats I have seen at OverDrive before this were "Adobe EPUB eBook" and "Open EPUB eBook". Those books have available formats of "EPUB eBook" and "eNYPL EPUB eBook".

I have an account with BPL and can try an "EPUB eBook" there to see what it does. Can you borrow a "eNYPL EPUB eBook" from NYPL and see if it is anything new?


ETA: It looks like they changed format names in unexpected ways. NYPL has a lot of formats that start with "eNYPL". The word "Adobe" seems to have been dropped from format names. This will complicate things for me. I am testing a fix and will release a new version of the plugin to handle these format name changes.

Version 1.24.0 - 26 Nov 2014

Handle format name changes at OverDrive that were causing searches to fail. (Elimination of the "Adobe" prefix and addition of library-specific prefixes in some cases.)

Handle Scribd books that go directly to the reading page, without showing the book details. (This happens for some graphic novels.)

Report a warning if a search to discover books by an author detects new links for an existing calibre book by the author, not selected when the search was started. (If you want the links to be added, redo the search with that book selected.)

Detect OverDrive web pages with incorrect HTML (unterminated CDATA sections) and allow them to be parsed properly.

Log more details during search.

Show progress bar if queuing multiple jobs causes a delay.

Small performance improvement in handling large numbers of discovered books.

There's a major issue with the default library list in this plugin. BPL is NOT Brooklyn Library. BPL is Boston Public Library and the URL should be pointing to Boston Public Library's Overdrive, not Brooklyn.

There are two major problems with your objection. The first is this:

The second is this:

Please do not come here with meaningless semantic complaints, we can refer to the B(rooklyn) P(ublic) L(ibrary) as the BPL if we want, we have precedence ^^ but we can if we want to anyway, since the shortname is only meant for user convenience.


(It happens that I use BKLYN anyway, and for Boston I would use BSTN so there. )

And notice that Boston Public Library (BPL) comes up first and foremost in the Google results. Thank you for that. Also, Boston Public Library uses BPL in the URL. Brooklyn does not. So yes, BPL is Boston Public Library and NOT Brooklyn. It's been like that since Boston Public Library opened long before there was a Brooklyn Public Library.
