NPR story "Amazon Removes Books from Kindle"

NPR did a story this morning on the Kindle (and mentioned Sony!). Ventured off a bit into the future of e-books and e-book readers.

I don't think so. This wasn't a "news" story. It was more about the future of e-books and e-book readers, just kinda kicked off by the "1984" fiasco.

I think it's great that the subject of e-book readers is getting national attention. Can you imagine how many people still don't even know about e-book readers?

This was interesting at first, but it kind of dampened off to a paper book vs eBook conversation. I'll give them kudos for doing a balanced job.

Yes, balanced is a good word. As an example, they mentioned Sony!

More ridiculous still is they did not mention Astak. The eBook Reader world is still a two-company field it seems!

Agreed! And the next time NPR interviews me, I'll be sure to mention that I have pre-ordered a Pocket Pro from Astak! (Especially if it's true by then )

Also agreed. But I think most people have never heard of ANY e-book readers, so exposure like this NPR story is a step in the right direction. I hope.

Highlights how terrible these devices are in terms of digital rights management/DRM. Imagine the furor if a shop assistant came to your house and yanked a paper book out of your hands. It would be OBSCENE. They think they can get away with it because they consider ebooks 'rented' material.
