First mug of tea for the day.
The clothes dryer died last week. We have a maintenance contract on it, but it's 23 years old and they don't have to fix it if they can't get the parts. Fortunately, it was the motor itself and they can get one ... but ordering and shipping will take a while. In the meantime, I can hang dry shirts and jeans in the basement, but some items (sheets, towels, socks, etc.) either can't fit well down there, or really benefit from tumble drying, so I'm washing them today and making a run to the local laundromat. Fortunately, I can combine the trip with the supermarket and library. |

Welcome back! How'd you do last night with the storm? We avoided a power outage, for a change, but still got a lot of wet.

Well, I spoke too soon. Power just went out. Internet courtesy of my cell phone.
A good afternoon to sit and read. |

Haha. I actually don't live on Salt Spring. I'm on Vancouver Island, and you can buy Salt Spring Island coffee at most grocery stores.

As you can here on the Sunshine Coast, too. But I've been a hard core Peet's drinker for too long, I fear, to change now.
Well, power is back. Only out for 3 hours, that's not too bad. And no nasty surges on either end of that, which is a good thing. But this is not a good sign. This is quite early in the season for this much wet and wind. And for a lengthy power outage to start this early is not at all promising. Diet coke, but I'm switching to medicinal Talisker almost immediately. |

And I awoke today and found the frost perched on the town
It hovered in a frozen sky and gobbled summer down When the sun turns traitor cold And shivering trees are standing in a naked row I get the urge for going but I never seem to go And I get the urge for going when the meadow grass is turning brown Summertime is falling down winter's closing in ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3isWmJAlfk ) Good morning, all! And welcome back, Nickola! I actually had to turn off the fan last night! It was just too cold. And this morning's temperature was actually 27°c! I think it might snow soon! Of course by 9am it will probably be back up to 30°, but I can enjoy the time in between with a mug of hot English Breakfast tea from the little tea room across the river, and pretend that I need a fireplace. I have an HD .avi file of a two hour wood fire that I watch when ever I need some 'cozy New England,' burn some Balsam incense and drink Lapsang Sushong tea to get the smells to match, but I think I can pass that up this morning. I haven't been here that long yet. Stitchawl |

More Talisker. But there may not be enough.

I want the PW2 so that I can read in bed more easily and leave the iPad on the night stand. Bancha in my cup. Little man is getting his molars in. Poor dude, four flat teeth pushing up at the same time. And the flue shot yesterday. I am so glad that I do not remember my first bunch of years alive. There is so much to see and do and learn and growth that just plain hurts that I cannot imagine how overwhelming the memories would be. |

My lunchtime Coke Zero. I'm a bit tired after 3 hours of Scottish Country Dancing last night.
