100 free books and google classics

I think all the selections in Sony free classic books are 1923 or earlier, so what's the point as now you can get Google's offering for free. Or am I missing something?

The point is probably that it is a nice feather in Sony's cap to have this partnership, instead of Google books being engulfed and consumed by Amazon.

Although the Sony Classics aren't high quality, they are higher quality than much of the stuff available from Google. The one google ePub I tried reading had things like this...

and this...

I don't remember seeing anything quite like that in the Sony Classics.

Still, a lot of (nearly all, in fact) of those works are available elsewhere, in better quality, including the upload section here at MR.... just not at google.

There are different books available in the Sony Classics than from Google.

Much cleaner formatting (although the Sony Classics have some problems, most I've read are good).

First choice for well formatted books should definitely be MobiReads collection! Only if not available there would I venture to Google/Sony!
