You could possibly critique the story structure and the epilogue was a bit "Huh?". But otherwise, I was just lost in the beautiful writing. And the scenes featuring Jesus Christ were awesome. It's one of those cases where I could overlook possible flaws because I was too busy being floored. Looking forward to some more fiction from this author. Now I'm moving onto another indie novel: Clay's Way by Blair Mastbaum, a GBLT, coming-of-age romance set in Hawaii which could be interesting. I love these books if they're done right so we'll see how it goes. |

Serious sleep shortage last night. Started the eArc of Necessity's Child by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller. This book is not really part of any specific story arc, but takes place on Surebleak after the arrival of Clan Korval. I'm almost finished and it's a great read! An excellent addition to the Liaden Universe.

I just found out the Infinity Hold by Barry B. Longyear was available as an ebook. I loved this book and read it a few times. I wanted to read it again and picked up my paperback and wondered if it was available. It was not available at Barnes and Noble. I checked Amazon and found it available. I was getting ready to click buy when I saw Infinity Hold/3 under Customers Who Bought Also Bought. Wondering what this was I clicked it. It is all three of the Infinity Hold books in one. And the bonus is that I did not even know there were any sequels to Infinity Hold.
I bought it and am getting ready to start reading them. http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Hold-...ref=kinw_dp_ke Quote:

I just started Hal Junior: The Secret Signal by our own Simon Haynes; he of the Hal Spacejock series. The Hal Junior series was written with young audiences in mind, but as I've discovered 1/3 the way through; it's fun for all ages.

If you are going to think of Rawhide, think of the Blues Brothers singing the theme and if you do that, get a hold of the movie and have a go. Very good movie.

It's not scary at all. It was a very poor choice for the bookclub for October. It seems the bookclub ends up with really crappy books for October.

I liked it; especially the sexual tension between Laura and the vampire Carmilla—surprising for that day and age.

But the point of a book for October is for it to be scary. Carmilla wasn't scary at all. Not even in the least. Yes, it has lesbian themes. But they aren't scary. I do think this would have been better for February's romance. It's got more romance in it then it it has anything scary.

Barry B. Longyear also wrote Enemy Mine which won the Hugo in 1980.I read both and liked Infinity Hold best. They are both excellent reads and well worth the expense, if you are not a Prime Member. I hope you enjoy.
And I am hoping the other two in the series are just as good. Apache |

Started reading Cocaine Blues by Kerry Greenwood. This is the first of the Phryne Fisher books and is getting rave reviews from my DW. But just started, so no reports yet. |
