how to find free ebooks on kindle?
I am an avid reader. Currently reading Gautama: a story of Self realization; purchased it from Kindle. Do you have any idea how to download free ebooks from kindle? Thanks.

1- Go to the kindle website.
2- Pick a category, say "Fiction". You get a listing 260K long. 3- At the extreme upper right, select SORT BY "Price: low to high" 4- You get something like this: http://www.amazon.com/s/qid=12996709...011&sort=price 5- Wade through the flood for something that catches your eye. Check in the Kindle forum for other tips to maximize your Kindle enjoyment. |

Check the Kindle board for the topic Free and Inexpensive Kindle books. Check Mobile Reads library of well formated public domain books.

Please post in the correct forum. This is not "News"; it is clearly a Kindle question, and hence belongs in the Kindle forum. I have moved it to the correct forum for you.

Since there are so many free books on Amazon's site, I usually go to the section that allows one to browse the bestsellers by category. It's broken down into top 100 paid and top 100 free. So if you wanted to see overall bestsellers:
1. Go to www.amazon.com. 2. Choose Kindle - eBooks from the tree on the left. 3. On the right, choose the link that says Bestsellers - Kindle Store : Kindle eBooks - Updated hourly. 4. Browse the two columns, first being top 100 paid, second being top 100 free. You can use similar methods to peruse top 100 paid and free for all the various categories. -HM |

All Kindle books (and I mean, from amazon, and not simply MOBIs) that are displayed as $0.00 on the amazon "home" screen as I see it (because I'm not from the US), turn out to be $2.33/4/5/6 when I click on them. A bargain but still.... $0.00 has a certain psychological impact that's annihilated by the non-US price.
Now, if it's MOBI books you're after (the DRM-free format that the Kindle supports), you can check out the "ebooks" section right here on MobileRead or even try Project Guttenberg. They actually are $0.00. |

An earlier poster is correct in that there are no 'free' Amazon books if you live outside the US. Just as we cannot get any of the Kindle games either. This really is an area which needs to be addressed, smacking as it does of 'Americentrism'....

Or legal reasons that end up meaning different fees for usage in places other then the US and possible copyright issues (the games). There are places out side of the US, like the UK, where the free books are indeed free.

The last couple of days they added a lot of public domain books, which they didn't before, must be a problem with their site. |
