I set up Thunderbird with my gmail account. I sent a text file to both a Yahoo address and my Kindle address. The file was received by both Yahoo and my Kindle immediately.

Edit: Thunderbird used different server settings. I'll try them in Calibre.

Edit2: No, that didn't work.

Hmm the only thing I can think of in that case is that you typed the password wrong. Just to be sure, can soomeone else using windows with a gmail account check please, it works for me.

EDIT: Never mind, I think I know what the problem is, stay tuned.

It's not the password. As many times as I've typed (and re-typed) it today, only Calibre is having an issue.

Am also having problems sending to my Kindle. Got the following error:

Nope - will do that now. Tried setting up smtp server but that didn't work either. Will reinstall and try again.

I keep getting:

A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Can anyone tell what I am doing wrong?

@Leep what smtp server are you using?

@Sydney's Mom: Do you have a gmail account? if so just click the gmail button and fill in your gmail username and password. Also set the From email address to your gmail email address
