Corn IS the correct answer. It is the source of most of the various sugars and gum syrups added to processed foods. There are about 30 different corn-based ingredients commonly used by the food industry, besides kernel corn of course.

Minus 1 point for this one. Brussels Sprouts are only good when toasted like marshmallows over an open fire.

Actually... almost as far wrong as issybird's selection, but not quite.

Hamlet35, a question for us, if you please.

Ya gotta be fast around here, glob!
Almost all the sugars (dextrose, maltose, fructose, sorbitol, ) MSG, Dextrin and maltodextrin, golden syrup, corn starch, caramel, mono- and di-glycerides, baking powder... the list goes on and on. Fact is, we pretty much live on corn if our diets are primarily processed foods or even use jars, cans, bottles, and boxes for other ingredients when we cook fresh foods.

In the United States it is likely that the gasoline one puts in ones motor vehicle contains ethanol made from corn.

So another quick one for fans of Sherlock Holmes. Holmes and Watson resided, according to the stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, in a flat at 221B Baker Street in London. This address did not really exist at the time the Holmes stories were written (Baker Street addresses at the time only extended into the 100s), but later Baker Street was extended so that an address of 221 Baker Street became theoretically possible. Today if one were to mail a letter to that address it would be delivered to the Sherlock Holmes Museum. However if standard street numbering were used for the address of that museum what would the street number be?

I don't think I understand the question. Wouldn't it be 221B Baker Street?

No not if standard consecutive numbering were used. That is 221B Baker Street number is not in sequence with the addresses to the right or left of the museum.

Signing off for the night so anyone who feels that they have the correct answer should go ahead and post the next quiz.

I used google maps street view to figure out the answer. I have to believe that is cheating, but I did feel a little sluethy (is that a word?). Anyway, the museum looks kind of cool -- especially with a bobby standing right out front.

They are delicious cooked with olive oil and garlic and if you've got some bacon or pancetta to add, even better.

That does sound good. I wish they were sold here. I've never seen them in the markets, and I don't have room to grow them on my veranda.

I have actually seen the museum from across the street, and I even remember noticing that the number wasn't consecutive. But I can't remember what the numbers were!

Let's guess: 226?

223? Next odd number after 221.

I believe the letter used to go to a Building Society (I think, or Estate Agent?), before the museum took over the role of dealing with the mail.
