Almost too unimportant to ask...
When I start Calibre I get the popup that tells me there is a new version, but when I click on "what's new" or on "update" nothing happens. I can navigate to the download page and do an update and everything works great, just can't figure out why I can't click through on the pop-up link the way I used to. The pop-up that tells me there are plug-ins to update works just fine. I've tried disabling my antivirus and firewall to see if that's the problem, but no luck. Not a big deal at all, everything else works great .... but it's like a fly buzzing around me and I keep going back to try and fix it. I'm working in XP and this started about three to four updates ago. Any suggestions would be great!
Oh, also the Help button no longer takes me anywhere.... I'm getting twitchy just thinking about it |

Both those buttons open a website in your system browser. Something on your system is preventing calibre from opening whatever browser is set as default on your system.

I'm guessing I must have done something with my antivirus...odd that the problem persists when I disable it. Is there something different about the 'update the plugins' button/link that allows it to work? Thanks for your help...again, not a big deal but about once a week it's annoying

that one does not use an external browser, it uses functionality in calibre itself.

I also suggest re-installing your browser, or re-setting ti as the system default.

Brilliant! You were right... IE was not set as my default browser (don't know how that got changed). One box click and five weeks of aggravation are gone. It's almost better than.... well, it's good!! Thanks Kovid!
