Why can't I read in other languages?
Hi,everyone ^^ I recently purchased kobo ereader and was pretty satisfied with it(despite the bad pdf,no search and highlighting), but I tried to upload a ebook in other language and it did not read it.
How come? Is there anything I can do to change that? I really don't want to return kobo, but it looks like I'd have to((( Thanks for any advice. |

Welcome to MR, Margok.
I don't know anything about the Kobo. Hopefully, a member that owns a Kobo will answer soon. What languages are you trying to read on your Kobo? |

I still have no idea what's that, sorry XD
I used the adobe digital firmware to upload the book. The format is epub and kobo was able to open the book perfectly, but you're right,I got funny characters. T_T |

Might be a font issue?
One feature request I have for the next firmware is the option to support non-English Fonts (ie. Cyrillic, Coptic, Arabic, Greek, Asian font sets). |

I knew that one was coming. Is that why they didn't release a Francophone version, or did they.

The Kobo implementation seems to be very bare bones, but any device with mobile Adobe Digital Editions should be able to read Russian ebooks if a Russian capable font is embedded into the ebook. This is the case for both PDF and ePub. See for example How to embed fonts in ePub after Calibre.
One some devices, it is possible to add fonts on the device and reference them in an ePub (so there is one copy per device, rather than one copy of the font in each ePub). We don't know how to do this on the Kobo yet though. |

You have to find address for SD card in Kobo OS
In Sony rider looks like that: @font-face { font-family: "DejaVu Serif"; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; src: url(res:///Data/fonts/DejaVuSerif.ttf); } In Jinke - Hanlin v3, Hanlin v5, BeBook , Astak rider looks like that: @font-face { font-family: "Verdana"; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; src: url(res:///abook/fonts/verdana.ttf); } |
