eeech! Terrible book but her fan base is the worst, much worse than anything the Twighlighters ever did. The "dominate" (notice my clever play on words there?) message boards left and right and pretty much spam for the author incessantly.

sorry but hack names like anastasia steele and christian grey don't set my pulse racing, they make me groan at their sheer cheesiness. ted longdong and foxy le'mew are good names for erotica characters, not anastasia.

Truthfully this makes me a little uncomfortable as a reader of Fan Fiction. There has always been an agreement, tacit or explicit, that the "characters are borrowed for non-commercial purposes." Because of that, copyright holders largely turn a blind eye toward protesting the Fan Fiction community utilizing their product. Too much of this and I think authors and Publishers will become much less understanding about Fan Fiction authors taking existing characters and worlds for unauthorized use.

I agree with the thought (thanks for the link Vulcan Girl) that the series should list its provenance. This particular example is skating on the edge of absurd, to call it wholly original.
