I'm not one of the unlucky ones, but the people that are banned either won't be able to answer what are called "research questions" (includes the Kindle question) or just won't be paid for whatever they do. Amazon really can't "fire" any of us as we're technically not employed by them, but I guess the worst that could happen is one's account they use for "Turking" could be locked.
