How to find out if a [Kindle] e-book is sold at an independent store DRM-free?
Best practice to do that? For example I like a book in the Amazon store but accidentally I have found it in an independent store ad well DRM-free by Google. Perhaps I need a method for that?

Amazon's DRM mechanism can only be applied by Amazon themselves. If you buy a Kindle book at a store other than Amazon it won't have DRM.
(Not that it matters one way or the other, given the extreme ease of removing the aforementioned DRM.) |

Well, if you don't buy it at Amazon it won't have Amazon's DRM, but there are other forms of DRM you might encounter.
If you're interested in a particular ebook you might try searching for it with an ebook search engine like "inkmesh" but you will still have to know if the site applies DRM. Most vendors that don't use DRM will tell you that on their site. |

The book may very well be DRM free on Amazon, if it is available DRM free elsewhere.
What is the book? |

I would just google the book title + DRM-free and see if you get any legitimate sides.
Also, you can try checking Smashwords (all genres) or Baen (Sci-Fi / Fantasy), all their books are DRM-free. |

Smashwords is definitely your spot. If you google the title comma smashwords you should get it fast.

I've often wished that Amazon would display the copyright date of all its books.
