Odd Files On Kindle 2

I noticed three odd files in the Documents folder on my Kindle 2. They are:

.fuse_hidden00000d8a00000001
.fuse_hidden000035f000000001
.fuse_hidden000124e200000005

Does anyone know what they are? Is it OK for me to delete them? They do not show up as books. Combined they total about 1.5mb in size. Seems like a lot of wasted space.

You get these files on a Linux system (such as the Kindle) when a file has been deleted, but another process is still using the file, so that the file can't be permanently deleted. They will disappear automatically the next time the system is rebooted. If you fully shut down your Kindle, and then reboot it, the files should be gone.

Naturally they will not show up in the Kindle's list of eBooks, since they start in a "." which, on a Linux system, indicates that the file is "hidden".

In my experience, the fuse files show up when a malformed file has crashed the Kindle. I believe that the carcass is saved, and then I presume made available for post-mortem by Amazon techies. Sort of like a primitive crash report. My observation is based upon observing them appear just after a crash, and yes it is OK to delete them. Harry's scenario may be correct as well.
