Kindle 3 - Does Amazon even know when they will be shipping?

I am in the UK. I pre ordered my K3 on 30th July. I have an email from then (because I rang customer services) confirming that I ordered before they ran out of pre order stock, and mine should be dispatched on the 27th August, however if I go onto my order summary page it now shows a delivery estimate of 1st - 5th October

If I go into the actual order, it still shows no date, and I haven't had a email from them yet confirming the date

Another call to customer services this morning is shedding no light on the October date, and today the order page is showing 8th September as the estimate date if I ordered today.

I am hoping the October date is an techinical glitch, but it sounds like Amazon don't even know when they are shipping these

Yeah, see the other thread, (last page of https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=93472)

looks like it's showing that way for a lot of people. I ordered on July 29, when it was showing "order now for a release-date delivery of August 27" and it's also saying October 5 for me.

I just called them and they have no idea why the order summary pages show these late dates. They assured me that the dates shown when I ordered are the accurate ones. They are putting this information to the web teams to find out what is going on.

They had an update dated 6th Aug that states orders placed by noon on 1st Aug will be shipped by 27th Aug and from then till last night they ship 1st some first served, but by Sept 4th.........from today they will ship by Sept 8th. Their own update to CS reps today..........
