I just saw ebooks at the Borders website
I was poking around looking for deals on the Sony PRS-900, and lo and behold...the little search dropdown has "ebooks" and "free ebooks" now!
Yay! |

At least they give a discount for the ebooks that I checked out.
Geo Restrictions Most of the books that I checked had no synopsis unless you went to the paper book page. |

Also, [some] ebooks may be excluded from all types of promotion. No reward bucks earned. From Border's website:
"The publisher does not allow this eBook to be discounted below list price in any way. For this reason, this eBook is not eligible for any pre-order, bestseller, promotional, coupon, or other discount. It is also not eligible for the accrual or redemption of Borders Bucks through Borders Rewards." [edit- I checked a few older titles and they dont have the disclaimer.] Last edited by Fbone; 07-01-2010 at 09:01 PM. |

Hmm, sounds like they are gearing up for Pubit, their new free-for-all (not in price, but in behavior) do-it-yourself publication system.

Kobo powers Borders
Borders does have ebooks now, and they are powered by Kobo in Canada. Kobo also powers Indigo Canada ebooks. Great store, Kobo. A Good thing for Borders and Indigo.

They've been selling Sony ereaders for a long time without offering ebooks for sale. I'm not saying it was a smart thing to do but selling ereaders is not a new thing for them with the Kobo.
