The only accessory I have ever purchased for my Kindle is a case.

I have Lighted cases only for my Kindle Touch and K4b. Don't really like using clip on lights for night reading.

Once you've seen how thick an e-Ink screen isn't, you will agree that a case is essential. I think the Touch and the Paperwhites might be a little less fragile because of the extra layers of the digitizer and the light, but still...
A sleeve might work for some people, but the couple seconds between sliding the Kindle out of the sleeve and getting it into reading position is the time I'd drop it. Amazon's cases are a little on the pricey side... I mean they're just ridiculously pricey, but I was able to pick up a new used one of these for only $5.60 plus shipping (US). Call it being in the right place at the right time for a change. |

Or you could just go with a third-party case. Some of them are very good -- I personally suggest rooCASE.

Yeah it happen with the silver Kindle but not my black one which leaves me to believe it was a chemical reaction to the Silver K4 back which the black version has a different finish on it as it has no stains at all on it from it's case. So yeah if you own a Silver Kindle it may stain.

Well ... just because the Kindle cost you $23 it doesn't mean it's junk. But, when cases cost what they do for Kindles at Amazon -- even 40% off is not that cheap. My local Staples still has M-EDGE Go! Jackets for the Kindle for $5 on clearance. (You can also find them for a little more on eBay.) If you can find one of those, they offer good protection and they make holding the Kindle easier (at least I like the feel better). You can also use an E-Luminator light with this jacket (I have a similar one for my Nook).

See, I would take the savings and buy an Oberon cover with those savings.
But I am silly. I bought a K3 because I wanted a new Oberon sleeve. Well, and I needed a new e-reader. |
