Having my first night time/morning time nosebleed of this winter . Not a bad one, luckily, and I'm glad it isn't during the night (waking up with a taste in your mouth as if something has died in your mouth during the night is not fun).

Try a humidifier in your room overnight and see if that helps. It worked for me! Stitchawl |

Let us assume that you are really annoyed and make an appointment with the doctor. Random nose bleeds ar not good. Please call the doctor.

When I was a kid I used to get nose bleeds ALL the time. The doctor used some sort of chemical cauterization, a piece of gauze pad soaked in 'something' that he rolled up and put into my nostrils. I had to repeat at home for 2-3 days, and then never had the problem again. I only had to keep the gauze in for about 30 minutes at a time, 3-4 times a day. Absolutely painless, and solved the problem.

I used to get a lot of nosebleeds too. In my case the cauterisation procedure gave me the worst nosebleed I'd ever had, and certainly didn't fix the problem. I still get them sometimes during/after a cold. My best advice would be to stop blowing your nose, or at least do it gently!

I will get the occassional bloody discharge when I blow my nose and then I remember to turn on the humidifier. That normally fixes it.

Damn that makes me kind of happy that my last trouble was a jammed drawer (the one with my tools) all I had to do was unscrew the rails and then fix it all again

I was thinking that since it happens mostly at night and the bleeding happens at the back of my nose/top of my throat it might be caused by how I breathe through my nose at night (combined with colder air). |

Cultural differences... In the US, when we get a nose bleed, we tear off a small piece of tissue or gauze and put it in the nostril. Only a small bit protrudes. In Japan, they roll up the corner of a tissue and stick that in their nose, and walk around with the rest of the tissue hanging out. Frankly, I think it's a fashion statement.
