So that was the answer you were looking for? Alright here is something that I could come up with quickly. Daithi, you may want to pass this by your daughter to redeem yourself?

I can't provide the image, but they are symmetrically reflected images of the numbers 1 to 5. The next one would, obviously, be the same for 6.

(Wasn't this used in an episode of The Simpsons?)

That has to be one of the quickest correct answers that I have seen here! I don't know about the Simpsons' connection.

I remember the Simpsons episode. Lisa was convinced that she was getting increasingly stupid as she grew up and the puzzle you set was on a juice carton (or similar) at school during her lunch hour. All the kids, even the notoriously unintelligent ones, got it straight away. It drove Lisa mad that she just couldn't see it!

Quick question; if measured from the centre of the earth, what is the highest mountain on earth?

Everest? But that's too easy.

Everest is tallest measured from mean sea level and the Earth isn't a perfect sphere. So I suppose it must be some tall mountain that's close the the equator.

But I've no idea which one.

Guam is the truncated top of an undersea mountain. But one very uneducated politician was warning people not to all gather together on one side because he was afraid that the island would 'tip over' as if it were a floating pancake!

Yes, not Everest and it's close to the equator as you surmise. If this were QI, klaxons and lights would be going off right now.

It's about 2,500 metres less than Everest above sea level.

It being placed in the Andes rules out what was going to be my guess. I recently read about the formation of the Hawaiian Islands, the volcanoes there, and how Mauna Loa was the tallest mountain on the Earth if measured from base to tip, allowing for all that is below sea level.
