Color Images in eBooks

Has there been any ebooks for purchase with lots of text and color images together? I'm kind of disappointed with the text only ebooks available for purchase.

Am I correct to assume that all images in Kindle books are non-color? Even that there are Kindle apps for color screen devices.

And since iPad is in color, are there iBooks ebooks in color with color images?

You can get books with color images from Amazon/Kindle. Obviously, any pictures will just appear in grey scale when viewed on a Kindle, but it'll work just fine on the iPad/iPhone/Android apps.

Do you already own an iPad or are you trying to pick a tablet/ereader? Best bet would be to install the Kindle app and then download a book sample to see if the images appear OK.

And yes, there are iBooks containing color images.

Here are a couple Kindle books that you can test out by downloading the samples:

Captain Marvel Adventures

Curious George

You could also take a look at my illustrated editions of Jane Austen, here at MR. They all have colour illustrations.

I have a Kindle and an iPad 2. I'm hoping that one day books like this get published in ebook format. The Making of Empire Strikes Back
http://www.amazon.com/Making-Star-Wa...tt_at_ep_dpt_1

That's lots of images. This is actually why ebooks should be used. Books that are large and heavy. A real physical Novel is frankly a lot lighter than any of my reading devices!

I have several EPUB books with color images on a variety of subjects: photography, travel, cooking, history, memoirs, interior decorating. Most I bought at Sony, but you can also find them at Barnes and Noble and then read them in the Nook app on the iPad. Most of the books look decent in B&W eink, but they look fabulous on my Nook Color. I noticed my local library has recently added many more books with images, and I've been reading them on my Nook Color too.
