Thanks for the video. I heard that the technology used to avoid the flash screen of death works best while browsing or reading PDF than epub reading. Looks a bit better than my kindle or PRS-T1 but not that revolutionnary and certainly not as fluid as bookeen told us it would be. in my opinion that odyssey looks more like a Orizon with a better screen than a killer reader. In France, where Kobo will land soon partnering with the biggest library network, i can't see how bookeen will succeed with this.

As orizon owner, and having seen the odyseey, the odyssey is just way faster. Difference with the T1 is less noticeable.

Agh, glossy screen (again).
And I hope that show-off animation when opening a book can be disabled. Last edited by Jellby; 11-16-2011 at 09:35 AM. |

I agree, we were led to believe with the older videos showing just the screen that the refresh rate was almost instantaneous. Did you see the test video showing quite a smooth animation?
Like EowynCarter says, it's faster than others, but is it that much faster than the T1 to warrant purchasing? The web browsing is too slow to be convenient. Since one would buy it to read ebooks, the difference in speed with the T1 is insignificant. Thanks for the vids. |

My pleasure, folks. I was also surprised that the internet didn't seem as fast as it was hailed to be. Anyway even before I saw it this morning I decided to stay with Opus and may we long live happily ever after.

Truly disappointing! it couldn't even manage to show animation between zoom levels when zooming with the touch. Yes it looks better than the Orizon...but not as much better as they claimed.

Well, the hardware is there for that. At least for pdf. The odysey shows some animation at startup, it have capabilities.
ePub, no go, it's not zoom, it's reflow... |

John, while you're not totally wrong on that point, go away if all you've come here to say is how bad bookeen is when you don't even own any of their reader.

You don't have to own something to know about it. I didn't say this was a bad reader. I'm just not liking the cover animation shown in the video. It does take more battery to display the animation then to just display the cover.
