Home screen rotation on android 2.2

I just picked up a Le Pan tablet with android 2.2 and the home screen does not auto rotate. The apps seem to rotate with orientation of the unit if they are supposed to but go back to the home screen and it is always landscape.

I was told by tech that this was a fluke with the 2.2 system. I googled and some phone owners have had similar problems.

Anyone here with a rig with 2.2 that have the same problem?

The issue is not with Froyo, but rather with the skin that is used. For instance, HTC Sense home screen is always in portrait, but the native Google launcher will rotate with the phone orientation.

I’m not sure what launcher the Le Pan uses, but there is where to look. If you have access to the Android Market, try downloading an alternative launcher.

Thanks. Finding I am using it in landscape most of the time anyway :-) Will snoop other launchers though.

I'm currently using ADW, and it has the ability to auto-rotate for home-screen orientation.

mine rotates if I open the slide keyboard. But I never use it, swype is so much better.
