UK book sales thriving regardless of digital reading

From the BBC today:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22358062

Quote:
British publishers have reported record sales for 2012, despite the recession and the rise of e-readers.
However:

Quote:
Publishers Association chief executive Richard Mollet said the figures proved that publishers had reacted quickly to the changes in the industry and the move towards e-readers.

Another quote from the same article:

Quote:
Mollet said the Publishers Association was working closely with high street booksellers and would soon launch a scheme to help them overcome challenges in the physical books market.
It will be interesting to see if they come up with something.

66% rise in digital sales, and a 1% drop in physical sales. Curse those ebooks, ruining everything.

Yeah, it's funny it was presented as "record sales in spite of the recession and e-book sales"

An ebook sale counts as a book sale, last time I checked...

Do they donate all the earning from ebook sale to charities?

I thought they had reacted quickly... at least the running round in circles and screaming, "The sky is falling," looked like a quick reaction...

I am not sure we know enough to slide pass the flak and really understand what is happening.

The next year or 2 will make it clearer.
