Scribd to open a Kindle Store next year?

Business Insider recently interviewed Scribd CEO Trip Adler, and is reporting that:
Quote:
Scribd, the YouTube for print, is working on a new way to get e-books onto your Kindle without buying them from Amazon.
from:
http://www.businessinsider.com/scrib...-books-2009-12

*****

Basically Scribd is going to open a mobile version of the Scribd Store that's tailored for the Kindle. Yippee-skippee.

That's pretty interesting. Especially the part about mainstream publishers using Scribd. It does make me wonder why Scribd is making this announcement before anything with Amazon has been finalized. The article sort of gives me the feeling that something was in the works and it fell through. Maybe I'm just reading too much between the lines.

Our back of the envelope calculations put revenue in the range of $7 to $10 million. Adler says revenue is growing 10-12% month over month.

Wow. What will be the revenue in 10 years?

Work it out. $10m now. 10% growth for 120 months is:

$10m x (1.1)^120

= $930 bn

Somehow I don't think they'll achieve it .

Not unless they can turn into a Northern Hemisphere bank and get a handout!
