KDP Select freebies (should be free in all regions, barring geo-restrictions):
The Door to Ambermere by J. Calvin Pierce (ISFDB entry), 1st in Ambermere Trilogy of comedic light adventure fantasy, IIRC, originally out from Ace Books in 1992. I actually have a paperback copy of this or another book in the series which I picked up at a used bookstore, I think, but have never actually got around to reading. The Stone Mother's Curse by David Farland aka Dave Wolverton (his ISFDB and Wikipedia entries are somewhere upthread and I'm not going to bother to re-link). Self-pub fairy tale-ish fantasy, if you're interested. A.A. Attanasio offers a repeat of a book in his sf Radix Tetrad. Smashwords freebies available to all (may or may not be price-matched elsewhere in regions which are not Canada, from an Amazonian point of view): Daddy's World by Walter Jon Williams (ISFDB entry, Wikipedia). 2001 Nebula Award-winning cyberpunk novelette. Glampire by Chris Dolley. Humorous alien contact murder mystery short by author mentioned in post directly above. Stephen Hunt (ISFDB, Wikipedia) offers two of his space opera and urban fantasy novels which were previously KDP Select exclusive-or-else, now free to all via Smashwords. |

The third book in Bradley P. Beaulieu's Lays of Anuskaya series is being released in May, the author has a Kickstarter project where $15 gets you all three books in the series plus (if the first stretch goal is reached, almost there already) his upcoming short story collection Lest Our Passage be Forgotten and Other Stories.
The first book in the series is also being discounted to $2.99 at Amazon, B&N, and Kobo |

Free today: All the Paths of Shadow by Frank Tuttle
'The king’s orders were clear enough. “Move the tower’s shadow,” he bellowed. “I refuse to deliver my commencement speech from the dark.” As the newly appointed mage to the Crown of Tirlin, Meralda Ovis has no choice but to undertake King Yvin’s ill-conceived task. Tirlin’s first female mage, and the youngest person to ever don the robes of office, Meralda is determined to prove once and for all that she deserves the title. The Tower, though, holds ancient secrets all its own. Secrets that will soon spell destruction for all of Tirlin—unless Meralda can unravel a monstrous curse laid by a legendary villain seven centuries before she was born. I'm not too surprised (if it was, would not expect it to be free, as HC usually has different ASIN's and separate publishing arm for the ones that do cross over).
Not free at BoB or on Kobo or Sony, from what I could see (may change after a day or so). |

Free from Kobo today: The Accidental Demon Slayer by Angie Fox
'It's never a good day when an ancient demon shows up on your toilet bowl. For Lizzie Brown that's just the beginning. Soon her hyperactive terrier starts talking and her long-lost biker witch Grandma is hurling Smuckers jars filled with magic. Just when she thinks she's seen it all Lizzie learns she's a demon slayer-and all hell is after her. Of course that's not the only thing after her. Dimitri Kallinikos a devastatingly handsome shape-shifting griffin needs Lizzie to slay a demon of his own. But how do you talk a girl you've never met into going straight to the underworld? Lie. And if that doesn't work how dangerous could a little seduction be...?' http://www.kobobooks.com/ebook/b/boo...JR8XyDOVOjlUdA |
