Yeah, I'm not a huge reader so I don't care about having a pocket reader.

I'm just interested in seeing a slew of 10" or so tablet pcs come out and prices on them get in the $500-700 range as I could really use one for the office for reading and marking up academic documents and articles. Current tablet/slate PCs are way too expensive, and I don't really need a device with full PC functionality.

You're going to want to be watching a couple of companies, one obvious one is Gigabyte and their convertable tablet netbooks running at $700 for a 10.1" device.

The other is of course archos and their 9" atom based tablet coming relatively soon too.

I'm more interested in the latter. My purposes for such a device have no requirement of an attached keyboard at all. A wireless or onscreen keyboard is more than fine. Perhaps this is the kind of thing you're waiting for. If so, not much more waiting will be required.

The Archos is much more in line with the type of device I'm keeping my eye on.

I have no interest in laptop/netbooks with touch screens like the Gigabyte. That would be bulky and heavy for reading, holding in one hand and writing in the other etc.

I'll definitely keep an eye on the Archos and other similar products though.
