Japan Display shows low-power reflective LCD that does color, video

Quote:
Japan Display has developed a paper-like low-power color reflective LCD, which can display video.

That looks very cool. What will be great is when there is a display that can switch between reflective and backlit on the fly.

Yes, cool indeed. There's been plenty of talk about color eInk displays, but these displays have not taken off. Maybe it will be different with this new technology, though I still believe the market for color readers (not tablets) is a niche.

I would love to use some e-ink screen on my computer for longs days of coding or text redaction... please give me some!

That's a fascinating little display. Makes me have the little pipe-dream of having THAT screen in place of the eInk screen of that prototype 2-screen smartphone thing (that has an LCD on one side and eInk on the other).
