Edgar Pangborn's "Davy"?

In another thread, I was promoting Edgar Pagborn's "Davy" as one of the greatest Science Fiction novels of all time. Then I realized it has been a LONG time since I've read it. And I'm due!

A search of the major Ebook sites and Gutenburg, and I consistently turn up only the short story, "The Good Neighbors". Does anyone know of an ebook source for "Davy"? This was probably Pangborn's greatest work, It NEEDS to be available in an eformat!

If it doesn't exist, can some publishers who participate in these forums please publish it in some sort of Ebook format?

Unfortunately, since it was written in 1964, it's still in copyright until 2059. According to Wikipedia, all of Pangborn's copyrights are now owned by the fantasy author Peter S. Beagle, and while he apparently planned to release a set of definitive editions in hardcover about a decade ago, it doesn't look like it's going to happen. It's too bad, so many fine works get lost to obscurity because they're in languishing in copyright, and either the heirs just don't care, or they can't get a publisher to reprint an old work by a dead author because the expected sales run is just too small.

You can only get it if you're a "crook"...

Sad.

Only if you expect Canada to hold out against heavy lobbying by the copyright moguls from the US and EU for the next 17 years.

NO ONE is gong to be lobbying for or against Edgar Pangborn! NO one alive in 10 - 15 years will even remember him!

Then in 30 -40 years, some sad sack, prowling old book stores (assuming there will be any - maybe it will be an antique store) will find a copy of Davy, publish it to a new audience who will consider Pangborn a 'Genius', movies (or equivalents) will be made of the book everyone will get rich while Pangborn remains dead.

It's a wonderful book, and I see from the fictionwise listing that it was published by E-reads. It may be that the copyright holder opted not to renew the contract with E-reads if the time ran out. I'll see what I can find out. (I'd like to get it, too.)

Might take me a few days. I'm away from home.

Bad news on the Pangborn book. Per the publisher of Ereads, the estate pulled the rights to the ebook, so it is no longer available.
