SD Directory Limit

Does the SD card have an upper limit for directories?

I have been using Calibre to load a large portion of my library onto my 505. I have around 500 books on the SD card and it is now giving a PY error 82. unable to create directory. If I remove some titles the problem goes away only to return as I reach some magic number. The SD card in 2Gb and is only about a third full. The card has 531 files in 195 folders.

If it's formatted as FAT32, no, there is no limit.

If it's formatted as FAT, there is a limit to the number of files and folders that can be created, but only in the root directory.

It's not the SD card itself being limited... I've had 6K files on a card, all fully accessible, using standard 505 and now running four times as many under PRS+

Your card may be corrupt and need re-formatting, you may have a damaged file or two, your card may be faulty. I'd try a full re-format and ensure it's FAT32 format and then try again... unfortunately you have to try each thing until you finally work out the actual cause...
