epub -> mobi removing fonts
I do my book creation in Sigil and then create a mobi using Calibre(.7.37). Usually I just use all the default options.
I have just started embedding fonts in the e-pubs. I'm wondering if it is safe to use those files for conversion to mobi. Specifically, will Calibre automatically remove the font files and ignore anything in the style sheet related to the fonts. I'd rather not have to maintain two versions of the epub, one with fonts for use as an e-pub and one without fonts for conversion to a mobi. I'm guessing from the file sizes that the fonts have been removed in the mobs but I thought someone here must have a good answer. |

Yes, since Mobi doesn't support embedded fonts, Calibre does indeed automatically remove them and strip out anything that the mobi format can't understand. Another example similar to this would be svg images getting rasterized.
