Hmmm. And black is not a color (being the absence of colors), but we see it as a color. Just as *cold* doesn't exist, but is simply the absence of heat. I'm already confused.

Maybe pink is a pigment of our imaginations.

And there is a marked absence of heat in my office.

How did tomatoes become defacto vegetables? All of the other fruits are treated as something separate from vegetables, yet not tomatoes. Tomatoes are used in a way that puts them in the realm of vegetables.

You hear of spaghetti in tomato sauce, yet you never hear of spaghetti in cherry sauce or orange sauce. In the realm of candy you see all of the fruit flavors represented...except for tomato. No tomato gum, no tomato swedish fish, not even tomato soda.

Could it be in the distant past, when the realms of edibles was being determined, tomatoes were late to the party for the fruit realm and got dumped into the realm of vegetables? Could the tomatoes go on a quest to restore their proper place in the fruit realm? Would the other fruits reject the tomato?

"Vegetable" is strictly a culinary term that refers to any part of a plant that has a savory taste. "Fruit" on the other hand is used both botanically and culinary, with a very distinct definition for each. In the former it is an organ which contains seeds, while in the latter it is any part of a plant with a sweet taste. These differing definitions result not only in vegetables that are fruits, but also fruits that are not fruits. This illustration demonstrates my meaning:

Tomatoes are not alone in this perplexing situation. The avocado, beans, peapods, corn kernels, cucumbers, grains, nuts, olives, peppers, pumpkin, squash, sunflower seeds, and eggplant as well as others I'm sure, are also fruits placed in the same vegetable bin with the tomato.

It seems that mythical creatures seem to move in and out of fashion on a regular basis. For a time it was vampires, and now it has moved to zombies.

There has even been a move to combine two different things that wouldn't seem to go together. As an example, who would have thought that combining monsters with fashion dolls would work, yet it has in the Monster High line.

What would be the next combination that would work? Could we see a combination of mummies and gummies that will result in gummie mummies (they'll wrap your tongue in flavor!)? How about the curse of immortality combined with a "Lord Of The Rings" type quest:

He will brave any danger in his never-ending quest to end his life. Nothing will stop him from dying! But forces gather to stop this from happening!

How about a combination of robots and teen high school drama?

J8K and KT are in love, but the other bots oppose their relationship because...gasp...he has a graphical user interface while she has a command line interface!
