But if you want to see what I think is the best movie of 2012 and should win Oscars for Best Movie, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best everything, it is Spielberg's Lincoln. There is not a badly played role in the movie; in fact, I'm not sure there is even a mediocre played role -- the acting was superb. Lincoln is by far the best movie I have seen in a very long time. It is not a "fun" movie; it is a serious drama. Daniel Day-Lewis is outstanding as Lincoln and Sally Field is equally outstanding as Mary Todd Lincoln. I can't praise the movie enough.
Agreed.

I didn't realize there was another Casino Royale movie.

The first Casino Royale movie was more satire. It started David Niven as a forced out of retirement James Bond. It had an all star cast.
David Niven
Peter Sellers
Ursula Andress
Orson Welles
Woody Allen
Barbara Bouchet

It's been a while, but I basically liked all of the Bond books when I read them in HS. This was in the pre-VCR days (or the pre-my-parents-having-a-VCR days, at any rate), so I read all of the books before seeing more than a couple of the movies.

The book and the movies overlap like a venn diagram, meaning that if you like the movies, there's no guarantee that you will like the books; it depends on *why* you like the movies. If you are interested in Bond as a character separate from the action, you are likely to like the books. If you know who Turnbull and Asser are and are familiar with the difference between a silk knit tie and a grenadine tie (and perhaps can recognize the difference between garza grossa and garza fina ties), you are very likely to like the books...

I just saw Skyfall last night. It is highly entertaining. Easily one of the best non Sean Connery James Bond movies.

I know this is posted over at the deals and freebies section, but for those that don't really look at that thread, all these books are $1.99

I think the big difference between the movies and the books was that Bond could have been a real person in the books, but only a superhero could do what he does in the movies.

The books were based on real things, the movies bear only a passing resemblance to reality. That being said I liked both the books and the movies...mostly.
